– Now there will be a gathering in Bån. APS’ municipal councilor in Trondheim, Trude Basso, wants to recruit so many new members that the power of Trond Giske and Nidaros erodes.

The short version
- Aps municipal councilor Trude Basso encourages people to join all local teams other than Nidaros in Trondheim. She believes it could weaken Trond Giske’s power base.
The summary is created with the help of artificial intelligence (AI) and quality assured by Aftenposten’s journalists.

The waves after this weekend’s dramatic Ap annual meeting in Trondheim have by no means subsided.
The annual meeting dismissed the incumbent, Gunn Elin Høgli. Deputy chairman Jørn Arve Flått resigned as deputy chairman in protest against what he called “a coup”. The selection committee’s candidate for new deputy chair withdrew from the podium and suggested that she and Trond Giske switch places. And so it was.
– Shitshow, wrote political editor in Adresseavisen, Siv Sandvik, about the personal dispute.
Trude Basso, central Ap politician in Trondheim, also criticizes Giske’s use of power.
– We cannot and must not accept undignified and ugly behavior towards members. We cannot have such a Trondheim Ap as we see now, writes Basso in one posts on Facebook.
She describes Giske as both “charismatic” and “self-absorbed”.
Trond Giske writes in an SMS to Aftenposten that “I have no comment on that”.
Basso does not intend to let the weekend’s noise pass without resistance. Now she calls for a fight against Giske and Nidaro’s social democratic forum.
– The last week has been absolutely terrible for Trondheim Ap. We are almost torn to shreds. I had basically given up on the whole thing. But then, when the fog clears, there goes a f . . . in me.
– And now there is a f . . . in many. We have so many good social democrats here in the city, and Trondheim needs a healthy, strong and good Ap, writes Basso.
The power relations in Trondheim Ap have been completely turned upside down since Giske took over as leader of Nidaro’s local team in December 2021.
The team then had 16 members. The team now has 4,482 members and is by far the largest team in the country.

– Charismatic leader
Trondheim Ap has 16 local teams. But Nidaros has far more members than all 15 other teams combined. It gives great power in the form of delegates at the annual meeting and in the representative council.
– Good for them. Stupid for the rest of us. In the last week and especially at the weekend, we have seen the consequences of that, writes Basso.
She takes self-criticism on behalf of the 15 party teams for having “done too bad a job recruiting members”.
– At the same time, one party team, with a very charismatic leader, has run recruitment campaigns with advertisements and prizes and telephone calls. It seems so far-fetched for most of us to actively ask people to sign up. Not exactly the standard Trønder folk spirit, but now it has to happen, Basso believes.
– Us and not æ
She warns that “now there will be a gathering in Bån”. Trondheim Ap will return as a healthier, more generous and stronger Trondheim Ap. The shop stewards must “pound the statutes into every nook and cranny of the organisation”.
– Fighting for positions is the “name of the game” in politics, but it is entirely possible to fight for positions in an all right way. It is the person and those who are best for the party and the city, who will enter important roles. It should be “us” and not “æ”, she writes.
The wrecked leader, Gunn Elin Høgli, has commented on the post with applause.
Now Basso, a regular senior doctor in orthopedics at St. Olavshospital, is at the forefront of taking back power from the Giske team Nidaros.
– In order for us to achieve that, all the local teams around Trondheim depend on more members. I understand that it must seem like pure madness to join Trondheim Ap now.
– But if you sympathize with social democratic politics, then we need you to register. Remember that the very, very, very most who are in Trondheim Ap are there because they want to work with politics. And now we’ve had enough, we can do better, appeals Basso.
Støre: – Must put an end to the noise
Basso does not wish to elaborate on his criticism of Aftenposten.
– Must be able to gather my thoughts around a full day of meetings tomorrow. Chairmanship and building council, writes Basso in an SMS.
Not even the resigned deputy leader Jørn Arve Flått has time to be interviewed.
The LO leadership also does not want to get involved in the new Giske conflict.
Labor leader Jonas Gahr Støre says Trondheim Labor must put an end to the row in the local team and focus on politics.
– We want to say clearly to Trondheim that now they must put an end to the noise. Everyone has a responsibility to focus on politics and those we exist for, says Støre to NRK. He did not want to comment specifically on Trond Giske.
