A youth from Troisdorf received a criminal complaint from the police on Saturday for filming a badly fallen woman in the city center and posting the recordings on the Internet. According to the police, a woman in the city center was so badly injured in a fall on Saturday evening that she lost consciousness. An emergency doctor treated the bleeding elderly woman on the street.
The 15-year-old boy took advantage of this situation: He is said to have filmed the doctor and the elderly woman and then distributed the recordings via the social media platform Snapchat. Officials of the Troisdorf Guard, who had been made aware of the filming by witnesses, then seized the young person’s smartphone as evidence.
They initiated an investigation on suspicion of violation of the very personal sphere of life by taking pictures. According to § 201a StGB it is forbidden to take pictures of people who show their helplessness. Just making it is enough – there is no need to publish it. The legislature provides for a prison sentence of up to 2 years or a fine. (ps)
