[TRIVIA] 5 World Dictators Who Still Reign in 2021 Page all

KOMPAS.com – Countries in the world have different character leaders, including the dictators who still reign today.

Among the rows of dictators, there are even those who have been in power for decades, and the number of atrocities they have committed is countless.

Launching various sources, here are 5 dictator of the world who this year is still leading his country.

Since taking the throne in 2011 to replace his father, Kim Jong Il, who died, Kim Jong Un has not been replaced.

It was rumored that he died in March-April last year and was replaced by his younger brother, Kim Yo Jong, but the news was not true.

Kim Jong Un continued the dictatorship of his father and grandfather, Kim Il Sung, who founded North Korea.

During his leadership, North Korea remained closed and reportedly there are some rules that make no sense there.

The president of Belarus has been in office for 27 years and has been dubbed the last dictator in Europe.

Lukashenko is known for his authoritarian and ruthless leadership style, not afraid to take the lives of anyone who opposes him.

While handling last year’s Belarus demonstrations that demanded his resignation, he once pointed a rifle at the crowd.

Lukashenko is in his sixth term in office after controversially winning Belarusian elections.

He won against the opposition Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, but the masses accused him of cheating.

Demonstrations have continued for months since August, but have failed to overthrow Lukashenko.

In Southeast Asia, there is also a dictator who still leads the country. He is Rodrigo Duterte the president of the Philippines.

He had ordered the police to shoot dead the rioters on the coronavirus lockdown, and enforce tough rules in his country.

His critical journalist, Maria Ressa, was jailed for six years in mid-June 2020.

Last September, the dictator, who has been in office since 2016, created controversy, by releasing US marines who killed transgender Filipinos.

Many people think that Duterte’s decision is desirable, such as asking for quick access to a corona virus vaccine.

Aged 67 years old, Erdogan has served as President of Turkey since 28 August 2014.

Inquirer reported that Erdogan was once caught in a multibillion dollar corruption case and closed social media access to control coverage.

His biggest controversy last year was turning the Hagia Sophia into a mosque again.

Since 2003 he has led Azerbaijan and is irreplaceable. He comes from a family that ruled the country for decades.

Aliyev was notorious for being corrupt and authoritarian. His family enriched himself through an under the table business deal, aka illegal.

He removed the term limits, and his wife, Mehriban Aliyeva, is vice president.

Last year Aliyev succeeded in bringing Azerbaijan to victory in the war against Armenia and seizing Nagorno-Karabakh.
