Trisha Yearwood, 60, Says This Cardio Workout Makes Her ‘Feel Like I Can Do Anything’

Trisha Yearwood’s Journey to Wellness: Zumba, Honestly Healthy Eating, and Garth’s Support

Country music icon Trisha Yearwood, set to return as co-host of ABC’s CMA Country Christmas alongside Amy Grant on December 3rd, is looking radiant in preview photos. Her commitment to health and fitness has been an inspiration for fans over the years, and Yearwood isn’t shy about sharing her journey.

Years ago, a life-changing trip with Habitat for Humanity to Haiti served as a wake-up call for Yearwood. Witnessing the poverty and struggles of others sparked a desire to prioritize her own well-being. "I really felt my weight on that trip," she confided to Good Housekeeping in 2013, further explaining, "I’d put a few extra pounds on top of the 20 extra that I always carried. I didn’t feel great.” This moment of self-reflection led her to overhaul her lifestyle, embracing Honestly healthy eating and a newfound love for Zumba.

Yearwood follows a "hardcore and boring" diet, in her own words, focusing on lean proteins, fruits, vegetables, and ditching "white food" like sugar and refined grains. While dietitians suggest that such restrictions aren’t strictly necessary for weight loss, Yearwood’s approach works for her.

She’s also a dedicated Zumba enthusiast, hitting the dance floor three times a week, particularly enjoying evening classes to minimize free time before bedtime. Her passion for Zumba is palpable, declaring to People magazine, "I fell in love with it. I have a strength I never had before. I feel like I can do anything."

Throughout her journey, Trisha has had unwavering support from her loving husband, Garth Brooks. Eternal sweetheart Brooks has never made Yearwood feel self-conscious about her size, often reminding her, “I wish you could see yourself the way I see you. I love you at this weight, and the only other weight I love you at is whatever weight you are."

Brooks has also encouraged trophic self-talk around food and exercise, focusing on positivity rather than restriction. Yearwood, inspired by her husband’s approach, described his attitude toward weight fluctuations, saying, "Even though Garth will gain, he doesn’t obsess about it. He’ll just be like, ‘I’ve got to be on TV; I need to lose some weight.’ Then he’ll lose it. He doesn’t wake up in the morning with his day being good or bad depending on what the scale says."

With a combination of a healthy diet, invigorating exercise, and unwavering support from her husband, Trisha Yearwood continues to radiate confidence and inspire fans with her dedication to wellness.
