Agartala: BJP announced the list of candidates for the Tripura assembly elections. The list of candidates for 48 seats has been released. The names of many prominent people including Union Minister Pratima Bhowmik are on the list. Senior BJP leaders Anil Baluni and Sambit Patra announced the list of candidates in a press conference at the party headquarters.
Chief Minister Manik Saha will contest from Bordovali. Pratima Bhowmik is contesting from Danpur. The party said that the names of the remaining 12 candidates will be announced later. Congress has also released the list of 17 candidates.
Assembly election in Tripura is on February 16. There are a total of 60 assembly seats. CPM and Congress had come to an electoral agreement to defeat the ruling BJP. The BJP came to power in Tripura in 2018 at the end of 25 years of left rule. Meanwhile, CPM MLA in Tripura left the party and joined BJP.
