Mr. and Mrs. Baroň from Zlín already have four-year-old Vašík at home. They learned that he would not have one new sibling, but three, after Christmas. “I expected them to tell me ‘you will have a baby’ on the ultrasound, but not that I have three there,” Anastasia Baronova laughed after giving birth.
The pregnancy was problem-free and the children were able to survive in the womb until the 32nd week. “It’s unique, because most mothers who had triplets gave birth much earlier. But the lady lasted a long time, and of course it’s better for both her and the babies,” said Richard Špaček, chief physician of the delivery rooms.
Mrs. Baroňová was not hospitalized until the last moment and worked in the garden until the last moment. “Two days before the birth started, she was still digging potatoes,” said Špaček. “Some mothers are lying, resting and we are digging the garden,” Tomáš Baroň digged into his wife.
But the birth also went without complications. First, a little girl named Zoe was born, followed by the boys Benedikt and Vincent. Birth weight ranged from 1660 to 1830 grams. The babies are currently in the intensive care unit and connected to breathing support.
“All three children are with good postpartum adaptation, almost fully on the milk and they are doing very well,” said Hana Bučková from the Department of Neonatology, adding that doctors could soon disconnect the newborn from support and release her mother home in five weeks. .
The Baron is said to be not afraid of new challenges. “One must not say that there will be a lot of it, but one must somehow set it up that it will be great,” Anastasia said. “We’re going into it and there’s no going back,” Tomas added. Neither spouse in his family is said to have twins, let alone triplets.
