The National Under-23 Weightlifting Championship was held in the city of Manizales. There, Juan Diego Parga from Huila got 3 silver medals by lifting 137 kilos in the climb and 170 in the clean and jerk.
“We had the chance to be in the Under-23 National Championship in the city of Manizales, where we got 3 silver medals, we were one kilo away from getting the other one. “It was a competition in which we did 137 kilos in the deadlift and 170 kilos in the clean and jerk, for a total of 307 kilos,” Parga expressed.
“It was a competition in which the best athletes in the country were present, it was an event where I was very close to getting the gold medal. However, I am left with the fact that I gave my best and luckily we were on the podium,” The athlete supported communication with LA NACIÓN.
The mistake that cost the gold
On the other hand, although he was satisfied with the three silver medals, Parga assured that there is no margin of error in sports and during the competition he made one mistake that cost him the gold medal.
“In sport there is no margin for error and during the competition I made a mistake that threw the momentum away. However, I had to balance that and I was satisfied with the three silver medals, obviously as an athlete you always want to be first and win the gold, but I was happy with it second place and we should not interfere with the work done by another. he shouted.

“This tournament was a stop to prepare for our next challenge, which is the Pan American Championship in the city of Cali, where we aim to have a great participation and we are hope to be on the podium again,” said the athlete from Huila.
