The police held a press conference on Thursday about the triple murder in Nes.
– All three have been killed, the cause of death is gunshots. Gunshot wounds also apply to the deceased man.
The police have found a firearm at the address, but it is too early to say whether this is the murder weapon.
See the press conference here.
– We have previously communicated how important it is to take care of relatives. They are briefed in advance, says police inspector Grete Lien Metlid.
The police have received preliminary autopsy reports for all the deceased.
They have also formally identified them, but are not going to release names at this time.
Encourages to avoid speculation
– What is the triggering cause and motive is a natural question that many people ask. It is absolutely central to the investigation and we have various theories, but it is too early to say anything about it now, says Metlid.
The police inspector says they are doing what they can to provide answers to those closest to them and those left behind.
She also encourages not to make unconfirmed speculations.
– It is important to be aware of this, that it does not become pure speculation and how it is shared. If you have something concrete or something you think the police should investigate, it is important that you communicate it to us, says Metlid.
The police constantly conduct interviews, and they follow up both people around the family and around the individuals who contribute information.

Youngest victim was ten months old
On Tuesday this week, four people were found dead in a smoke-filled home in Skogbygda in Nes municipality.
The police believe that a father killed his two daughters and his grandson before taking his own life.
The granddaughter was a ten-month-old girl. The baby’s mother was a 30-year-old woman. The other person killed is the woman’s sister, who was 24 years old.
The police say at the press conference that the accused man was 65 years old.
Metlid says there is no known health or treatment history on the man, but that they cannot rule it out either.
– But it is natural that investigations are carried out around mental and physical health, says Metlid.
– A dog was also found in the family home. It was also shot and killed, says Metlid.
The murdered 24-year-old woman lived there with her parents. The eldest sister had moved away from home.
The woman who is the mother and grandmother of those killed does not want to say anything about the case now. Her legal aid lawyer Hege Salomon says so.
– It is an absolutely terrible, cruel case. Everyone who hears about this case probably thinks that it must be the worst nightmare you can experience, says Salomon.

Called the police myself
Yesterday, police inspector Grete Metlid told the Oslo police that the man himself notified the police about the murders.
– We have said that it is a father and grandfather who calls in and says he has killed his children and grandchildren. That is still the big picture, said Metlid at a press conference yesterday.
The deceased man is now charged with the murders of his daughters and grandson.
On Wednesday, the Oslo police district held a press conference where they gave an update on the murders in Nes.
