A trio of players choose to leave Björklöven after the outing against Djurgården in the quarter-finals.
Björklöven has had a difficult season, the team finished sixth and fell against Djurgården in the quarter-finals.
Now the Umeå club announces that players who have been loyal to the club in recent years are leaving. Daniel Rahimi, Alexander Wiklund and team captain Fredric Andersson will not remain in Björklöven next season.
– A fantastic leader who is a big reason for Björklöven’s success in recent years. An incredibly popular person who will be missed, both from the dressing room and the stands, says Per Kenttä about “Freddan” to the club’s website.
Rahimi has played the last four seasons in Umeå, while Wiklund has represented the club for the last six years. Both have been assistant team captains. Andersson has been team captain since he joined the club seven years ago.
– It’s a bit clever, I don’t really know. Play hockey one more year I’m pretty sure I want to do. Then it’s going to be hell, Andersson told Hockeynews after the exit.
He was not in contact with any other clubs at the time.
