The murder case Boppelsen ZH goes into the next round. Both the defense and the prosecutor have moved the judgments. The process at the Zurich Higher Court begins with delays because the main culprit Reto D. * (31) from Utzigen BE had to be admitted to the hospital a few days ago. He can only be transported to the higher court with a delay of two hours.

The two accomplices, his still-wife Sonja D. * (31) and the garage owner Loris O. * (38) from the canton of Solothurn are punctually in Zurich.

Victims suffocated in agony
The two murders were five years ago. In the spring of 2016, the brutal trio murdered two people in an excruciating way. The chained victims’ mouth and nose were taped shut with tape. They suffocated.

The first time they wanted to collect 40,000 francs. The victim – the Serb Dragan A. – is said to have owed Reto D. money and drugs. The second time, they stole a truck advertised for sale during the test drive. They forced the owner, Simon G. * from the canton of Zurich, to sign, then they killed him.

Sonja D. wants to start a new life after her sentence
First, Sonja D., who is in the Handelsbank prison, is interviewed. “I’ve settled in well,” she says. Her children, who were born in 2012 and 2013, can visit her regularly. She works 100 percent in the laundry.

She had a happy childhood until her parents divorced when she was eleven years old. They were of one heart and one soul with their husband.

Because of massive money problems, however, they had more and more intense arguments. For this reason, she wanted to get a divorce. The divorce process is still common.

“I hope that the process will finally be concluded and that I can plan my life. I want to serve the sentence, then look for an apartment with my new life partner or my mum, ”she says in court.

Reto D. feels at home in prison
Then the main culprit, Reto D., arrives. The presiding chief judge begins immediately with his questioning. Reto D. says: “I keep having sudden fainting attacks.” He is currently housed in the Lenzburg prison. He also feels at home in the prison: “It is a very good prison. The employees have a lot of compassion. “

Then he also talks about the past. «I had a good childhood. Was in a small class. I had problems at school. ” He started two apprenticeships as a truck driver and then broke it off again. In 2012 he founded his own transport company with up to 30 employees.

However, the stress in the business quickly grew, and the earnings were also poor. That’s why he started with drug transports – especially marijuana. Since future victim organized the trade. Yet he ran into heavy debts. From 2014 to 2016 the sum increased to several hundred thousand francs.

The relationship with his wife was also not ideal. Sonja D. cheated. However, he understands the affair. Because he never had time. After the divorce, however, he would like to continue to have contact with his children. He has not seen this since October.

However, the transport company does not consider the safekeeping to be appropriate. «I stand by my deeds. I hope I get the chance to receive therapy. I accept the help. “

He ended up in the hospital because he was stressed about the allegations. “The allegations that I had threatened letters sent me so upset that I became ill.”

In the end, the accomplice Loris O. has to testify. He is currently in the prison in Solothurn. Because he suffers from cancer, his health is in poor health.

When questioned about the crime, both the wife of the main perpetrator and the accomplice make use of the right to refuse to testify. They don’t answer questions about the murders. Even though they are more heavily burdened by the main culprit before the higher court than in previous surveys. There is a risk of harsher punishment.

When questioned about the deeds, Reto D. gets entangled in numerous contradictions to his earlier statements. The chief judge has to find out again and again that today’s statements confuse him. Above all, the wild representations of a Serb mafia who is said to have ordered the murders.

Apparently the court does not believe in the existence of the Serb mafia. The chairman asked why his wife had not seen the men, even though she had only been away for a short time that day. And despite intensive investigations, the police had found no trace of the criminals.

Burying body in the garden
The trio reportedly murdered both victims in exactly the same way. According to the indictment, the Serb was lured into the couple’s house under a pretext, where he was handcuffed, beaten and finally suffocated with tape all night. Then the main culprit dug a hole in the garden with an excavator and buried the body.

The second victim is said to have been tied up on the test drive, tied to a trailer and finally also suffocated with tape. The trio then disposed of his corpse in a forest near Boppelsen.

The trio was exposed because they wanted to resell the truck after the murder and a prospect learned that it had been stolen. The interested party then informed the police, which finally found the bodies in Boppelsen and Utzigen.

The Bülach District Court sentenced the main offender to life imprisonment in December 2019, without custody. His wife received a prison sentence of 11 years and the Solothurn garagist received a prison sentence of 13 years.

However, the public prosecutor demands life imprisonment for all three accused, and detention for the main perpetrator. The lawyers of the three accused, in turn, are demanding much milder sentences. The appointment process in Zurich should take two days. The verdict is expected to open on June 22nd.
