Whether superstitious or not, the singer from Ronciglione can hope for success in the most important national singing festival also by virtue of some coincidences that have to do with football. Specifically with the results of Juventus and Milan in the week of Sanremo 2013.
Juve and Milan in the days of Sanremo 2013 and 2023
The first evening of Sanremo 2013 was celebrated on Tuesday 12 February. That evening Juventus were on stage at Celtic Park for the first leg of the round of 16 of the Champions League: the match ended with the away victory for the bianconeri then coached by Antonio Conte for 3-0 over Celtic, by virtue of the goals of Matri, Marchisio and Vucinic. And here is the first coincidence: also this year, simultaneously with the first evening of the Festival – therefore on Tuesday -, Juve won 3-0 away from home, against Salernitana. The match against Arechi closed the 21st round of Serie A, while the 22nd matchday began on Friday evening with the anticipation between Milan and Turin (match finished 1-0 for the Rossoneri), while Mengoni performed “Let it be” by the Beatles. Ten years ago, however, he sang “Ciao amore ciao” by Luigi Tenco, on an evening in which an advance of A was on the scene with Milan on the field, at the time coached by Massimiliano Allegri: well, even on that occasion, the Rossoneri team won with a one-goal difference: a 2-1 success over Parma with an own goal by Paletta, a double by Balotelli and a goal by Sansone for the guests.
