Trio Cavalcade – Toulouse Guitar

Next Friday, April 15, the Toulouse Guitare season continues with the arrival of the Trio Cavalcade. That evening, it is in the Marthe Condat auditorium of Paul-Sabatier University that three exceptional artists will perform, whose complicity allows them to explore new musical territories.

This concert was to take place on January 14, but the well-known circumstances required a postponement. Thanks to the stubbornness of the founder of Toulouse Guitare, Thibaut Garcia, the arrival in Toulouse of this extraordinary trio has finally been rescheduled.

It was in 2011 that Mathias Duplessy, a self-taught musician who has been composing on his guitar since the age of 6, met Jérémy Jouve, who very quickly became the ambassador of his pieces for guitar, now played by greatest international soloists. The idea of the Trio Cavalcade was born after the recording of the eponymous album in which Jérémy Jouve plays all the works for classical guitar by Mathias Duplessy. The two guitarists then plan to play together in order to weave a bridge between classical music and world music, which they achieve by calling on the percussionist Stéphane Édouard, who has accompanied great names in music (Michel Jonasz, Maurane, Ibrahim Maalouf, Bojan Z…).

Surrounded by Jérémy Jouve on guitar and Stéphane Édouard on tablas, Mathias Duplessy, sometimes on guitar, vocals, morin khour (Mongolian cello) and flute, this time offers a cosmopolitan concert where solos, duos and trios will follow one another, always in a festive spirit. The elegance and virtuosity of Jérémy Jouve’s classical playing will feed the strength of Mathias Duplessy’s flamenco playing and the rhythmic energy of Stéphane Édouard.

Giving pride of place to improvisation, Mathias Duplessy’s pieces are nourished by music from Spain, Brazil, India and composers such as Ravel and Gismonti.

A rare encounter not to be missed

A lover of traditional music, Mathias Duplessy learned to play instruments from all over the world… Morin khuur, Igil, fiddles, jew’s harp, berimbau, flutes and percussion of all kinds, saz, oud, banjo feed his orchestrations. He likes to divert, mix, reinvent the artistic universe of these instruments far from the paths of their origins by superimposing his voice, sometimes voluptuous, sometimes diphonic.

This coming April 15, at 8 p.m. in the Marthe Condat auditorium of the Paul-Sabatier University, this bewitching Trio Cavalcade offers us a virtuoso and intoxicating concert, without borders, from Spain to Mongolia, via France. ‘India. A rare meeting not to be missed which will be preceded as has become traditional by a young guitarist in training. This time it will be Sacha Rosenko, a first-year student at IsdaT in the class of Benoît Albert and Rémi Jousselme.
