The award was failed in an evening held at the restaurant Fifth Cecilio of Medellín, which is one of the sponsors next to town hall, while it is the Metellinense Historical Association who convenes and organizes this award every two years.
The same seven jobs were present, although only five of them were competing since the remaining two have been presented by the president of the association so that they form part of the work on the investigation of Medellin.
The jury, whose president has been Santiago Guerra Millán, Archaeologist and Winner of the II edition of the ‘Quinto Cecilio Metello’ Research Award, has been composed of; Jose Angel Calero, President of the Extremadura Historical Federation. Thomas Garcia, president of the Metellinense Historical Association and official chronicler of the town. Isabel Pascual Garcia, member of the federation of cultural associations of Siberia, La Serena and Vegas Altas. (SISEVA) and Rogelio Segovia Sopo, president of the Xerez Equitum Cultural Association.
During the evening, the archaeologist Santiago Guerra announced the progress of the excavations that are being carried out in various places in the Villa de Medellín, as well as the history of the recovery of the Roman theatre. The event ended with the presence of the band of the Medellín Music School who performed various themes.
The event was attended by the Mayor of Medellín Valentín Pozo and of Abel González Deputy of the Badajoz Provincial CouncilBoth agreed on the need to work together to promote heritage, as well as a way of creating wealth in the population.
