New Delhi: Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra said that the action against him is the end of parliamentary democracy. A pre-arranged game of kangaroo court took place. Mahua said that even if he is disqualified, he will be in the next Lok Sabha with a larger majority.

The reaction comes after the Ethics Committee of the Parliament recommended that Mahua should be disqualified from the Lok Sabha on the allegation that he took bribes to raise questions in the Parliament. The report against Mahua was passed by 6 votes to 4 in the ethics committee meeting of the Parliament on Thursday. The report will be sent to the Speaker of the Lok Sabha tomorrow.

Nishikant Dubey had filed a complaint with the Lok Sabha Speaker alleging that Mahua took bribe from businessman Darshan Hiranandani and posted questions on Mehua’s parliamentary digital account targeting the Adani Group and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Speaker then referred the complaint to the Ethics Committee of the House.
