Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) officially named Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Edhy Prabowo as a suspect on suspicion of corruption in the export of lobster seeds. The arrests were made at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang upon arrival from his visit to the United States.
It is known, Indonesia officially opened lobster seed exports since May 2020. This happened during the leadership of Edhy Prabowo.
During his leadership, Edhy turned out to have allowed lobster seed export activities of up to IDR 1 trillion in just 4 months from July-November 2020.
This can be seen from the records of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) of the Ministry of Finance, the total export value of Indonesian lobster seeds reached US $ 74.28 million or Rp. 1.04 trillion (exchange rate of Rp. 14,000 / US $). This value comes from the export of 42 million seeds.
Director of International and Inter-Agency Customs of the Ministry of Finance, Syarif Hidayat, said the export occurred in the period July to November 2020. This means that the export occurred in only four months.
“The total number of lobster seeds exported is 42,290,999. The export value is US $ 74,281,386,” Syarief told CNBC Indonesia.
DJBC noted that the exports were aimed at three countries. All three are in the Asian region, namely Hong Kong, Taiwan and Vietnam.
Of the three countries, the highest export of lobster seeds was aimed at Vietnam, which was recorded at 42,186,588 individuals. Meanwhile, to Hong Kong as many as 84,226 heads and to Taiwan as many as 20,185 heads.
Meanwhile, Edhy lifted the ban on lobster seed exports through the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Regulation Number 12 of 2020 which was released last May. Even though during the leadership of the Minister of KKP, Susi Pudjiastuti in 2014-2019, the export of lobster seeds was prohibited.
