Trigrad saved his school with the kids from Tanzania, now he has found a doctor from Africa

The Devin village of Trigrad saved the school from closure with six kids from Tanzania and is now on the verge of settling with a doctor from the African country.
Two brothers from the village – Victor and Daniel Alexandrovi – were in Tanzania for 8 years, but returned with their wives and 5 children. Another child was born here in Bulgaria.
“Victor and Daniel’s children saved the kindergarten from closing. It was threatened with closure because of the small number of children. This meant leaving more families from the village, cutting teachers and staff,” said Trigrad Mayor Emil Gogushev. “The return of the Tanzanians is key to saving the school. We are now calm about the school, as these children will grow up. In the small remote villages of the Rhodopes, the survival of the kindergarten and school is very important for the whole population, but unfortunately to depopulate. To study in the village until the seventh grade is another thing. It is gratifying that our children still do not travel to the neighboring villages for school. At this stage we are happy to keep the school, “the governor added.
“Trigrad can solve the problem with a doctor drastically if Victor’s wife, Diana, who is a doctor, agrees to work in Devin and a few days in the village,” Gogoshev said. Since the village has been cut off for two weeks, Diana responds to every request for medical help due to a failed road.
Now a doctor comes to the tourist village with over 650 inhabitants in two hours. Trigrad became famous for being the first in Bulgaria 11 years ago, together with the neighboring Zhrebovo and Kesten, to place advertisements in newspapers for jeeps in exchange for housing. However, they did not happen to meraklia. “There is no way to serve the population of Trigrad and the two villages for two hours, provided the weather is good. Without a doctor, we cannot have a pharmacy. In the morning it is a terrible night when people start ordering medicines on the bus.” says the mayor.
Victor and Daniel Alexandrovi are from Trigrad. They worked for the Austrian company Alpine Bau, which built the Tsankov Kamak dam on the Vacha River near Devin. After the completion of the site, as good workers, they received an invitation to move to another site. They were first in Romania and then moved to the company’s site in Tanzania. “My brother and I were the heads of a construction equipment maintenance workshop. We worked for several companies in the field of construction at 4 different sites across Tanzania,” says Daniel.
He has been living with Tanzania’s Elvira for 5 years. He has three children, Lawrence, Roumen and David, who were born in Dar es Salaam. After arriving in Bulgaria, another child was born to them.
“Elvira started to get used to it, so did the children. The little ones don’t know Bulgarian well, but the older ones can communicate with their peers. It was the hardest for them with the snow, but my wife and children are happy with it. we came back to visit only once in Trigrad “, shares Daniel. Elvira graduated from music school, plays the piano, but has worked mainly as a model in commercials in her homeland. She is from the Haya tribe and her birthplace is at the foot of Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain on the African continent. The six kids are a real attraction in the Rhodopean village. “Everyone enjoys it. Tourists constantly want to take pictures and play with the children. No one still makes fun of their skin color, but most know my character and don’t dare,” the father said.
According to Elvira, Bulgaria is more suitable for raising children because it is safer for their safety, and in Tanzania education is quite expensive.
“We came back for many reasons. The most important thing is that I want peace and security for my children. There are unknown diseases and children are at greater risk. I prefer to be in a safe place, to grow up in my home village. which I love very much. It would be better for them to be educated in Bulgaria “, says the 34-year-old Daniel.
His brother Victor, who is one year older, has two children – Daniel and Alexa.
Daniel and Victor, with the help of their parents while working in Tanzania, turned their house into a small 8-room hotel with a restaurant bar and barbecue. However, they do not work at full speed. Due to the pandemic, tourists are few. The brothers hope that the number of tourists will increase with the onset of summer.
In the neighboring village of Kozhari they also built a cow farm, where they raise 50 dairy cows. The distance to their farm is about 10 km. through the woods.
“Things are not going well in animal husbandry. The purchase price of milk is 70 stotinki, which is the cost of a bottle of mineral water in the store. The owner of a dairy in Smolyan even offered me to sell him 55 stotinki. This is unfair and humiliating for the farmer. Subsidies are also not distributed fairly. Various virtual breeders should not be allowed to lay their hands on pastures and collect subsidies at the expense of real farms. There are many slaps in the sector. of the real ones, ”says Daniel. He vows that they will try for some time with the business they set up in Trigrad and if things do not return to normal, they will return to Africa.
