Triggerfinger frontman Ruben Block releases first solo song | Music

Triggerfinger, the band of Ruben Block, Mario Goossens and Paul Van Bruystegem, announced in 2019 that they would take an indefinite break. Block clearly used that time to work on his own material, the single ‘Lights’ being the first to be released. “I had the idea to experiment a bit solo”, says Block in Radio 1. “The first demo of ‘Lights’ also dates from April 9, 2018, so the idea has been bubbling for some time.” According to the singer, the song is about progress, creative solutions and hope in difficult times. “I was inspired by the development of social structures, people looking for solutions to hopeless situations,” says Block.

For the new music, Block enlisted the help of the American Mitchell Froom, who has already collaborated with Elvis Costello, Bob Dylan and Crowded House, among others. He will also soon be presenting his new material to the general public. From June 11 to June 22, he will play a benefit performance ten times at De Roma in Antwerp.
