Hit and run car of the Cupra brand on Saturday, April 23, 2022 between Tauern and Konz
On Saturday, April 23, 2022, at around 3:50 p.m., a traffic accident occurred on the B51 between Tawern and Konz. According to the current status of the investigation, a dark Cupra car driving in the direction of Saarburg entered the oncoming lane in the curve area. The oncoming motorcyclist had to swerve to the right to avoid a head-on collision. He fell and sustained serious injuries.
The Finnish national was taken to a Trier hospital for treatment. The unknown driver of the car continued his journey towards Saarburg. The rescue service, a rescue helicopter, the volunteer fire brigade from Konz-Könen and the Saarburg police station were in action. The B51 was completely closed for about 30 minutes at the time the accident was recorded.
An investigation into negligent bodily harm and unauthorized removal from the scene of the accident was initiated by the Saarburg Police Inspectorate. Witnesses who can provide relevant information on the matter are asked to call 06581 9155-0.
