The locations of the special exhibition are the Rheinisches Landesmuseum Trier, the Museum am Dom and the Stadtmuseum Simeonstift Trier. In addition to the show, an accompanying program with more than 300 events is planned. The exhibition in Trier explores a great mystery of world history: Why did the Roman Empire, which was culturally so highly developed, perish? According to the organizers, this is the first time in the world that this question has been addressed in an exhibition.
According to earlier information, the budget for the exhibition is around 4.8 million euros. Trier is considered the oldest city in Germany and was once the largest Roman metropolis north of the Alps.
