Raipur: The tricolor will be hoisted for the first time in nine remote villages of Naxal-affected Bastar region in Chhattisgarh. Flag hoisting will be done in these villages for the first time after 76 years. This is a sign of decreasing influence of Naxalites and improvement in security scenario in these areas.
According to the police, flag hoisting has never taken place in these villages since 1947. But tomorrow when the villagers of these villages will celebrate Republic Day with the rest of the country, the situation will change. Police officials said that the establishment of new camps for security forces near these villages has paved the way for their development and they have again been able to connect with the rest of the state.
Inspector General of Police (Bastar region) Sundarraj P told PTI, “The tricolor will be hoisted in Palanar, Dumripalnar, Chintavagu and Kawadgaon villages of Bijapur district, Muller, Paria, Saltong, Mukrajkonda and Duled villages of Sukma district on Friday.” . Such a program has never taken place in these villages since independence.
