Munich – Open-air church service instead of the Anticorona rule demo. The “lateral thinkers” unceremoniously declared their demonstration on the Theresienwiese on Sunday afternoon to be devotional.
A lawyer for the organizer announced this intention at 3 p.m. The police initially decided to accept this statement. The demo organizers had called in pastors for their service rally. Most prominent clergyman: ex-television pastor Jürgen Fliege. He called the Corona rules a “regime of fear”.
The trick with this church service label for the demo: According to the infection control ordinance, there is no obligation to wear a mask for church services on the square – and the demonstrators did not want to wear mouth and nose protection.

A good 1900 people gathered on Theresienwiese. The administrative court and the city of Munich had actually only allowed 1000 participants. An outdoor church service is also limited to 200 participants according to the Corona rules of the Archdiocese of Munich. A distance requirement of 1.5 meters then also applies. Bizarre: While some protested against the Corona rules, worried Munich residents were examined in the Corona test station next door.
Around 6.45 p.m. the event got louder and louder. Music was played. There was loud applause. The police operations management no longer considered this appropriate for a silent holiday like All Saints’ Day.
A spokesman: “The organizer was instructed accordingly by the police. However, the organizer did not show understanding, so that the event was finally ended by the police at around 6:55 p.m. “
