Tribute to our comrade and friend Léo Richaud – EÉLV Grenoble et Métropole

Léo Richaud was a worker, environmental activist, trade union, staff representative, and at the CHS-CT in Merlin Gerin. He was a figure of La Villeneuve. EELV paid tribute to him during his funeral, which took place on Wednesday, December 9, at 11 a.m. at the Intercommunal Funeral Home in the Grenoble region.

When we arrived among the Greens in the late 1990-2000, we came across Léo- welcoming and demanding – who questioned us about our motivations to support political ecology.

A former trade unionist, installed in La Villeneuve with Jeannette, he lived the values of solidarity and ecology on a daily basis. They were known and respected figures of La Villeneuve.

Rude sometimes in the debates, present in many struggles, with the picnics prepared by Jeannette for sittings and demonstrations, also present for years in many public meetings, he knew how to carry values of solidarity and humanism.

In our internal meetings, he knew how to be sometimes against the grain and he pushed these rants which could be beneficial in his interventions to defend what seemed to him to be right or point the finger at what was not in our common values. environmentalists and humanists, with strong anti-nuclear and anti-productivist convictions.

A defender before the time of healthy and organic food.

He transmitted to us his tenacity, his political and friendly loyalty. One of the first activists, he was the creator of the Greens of Grenoble group then member of EELV, candidate for the cantonal elections, he proudly fulfilled his life as a convinced environmental activist.

The important thing for him was the protection of humans on a planet preserved from all pollution. He lived for many years in La Villeneuve, where Solidarity is an organization of daily life for many inhabitants.

He played his full part in the struggles and projects for his city and his neighborhood. He also knew how to remind us that sometimes the essential was forgotten: care for the most deprived.

Leo proudly wore the slogan ” have the same requirements and the same attention for the end of the world and the end of the month« . He observed the difficulties of his neighborhood, he wanted solutions to be imagined to improve the situation of the most precarious. He dreamed of another more just, more fraternal world, in which each human being could preserve his or her dignity. He was green and united in thoughts and actions!

He also knew how to recharge his batteries and take time to breathe in our beautiful mountains of Oisans.

Hi to you Dear Leo, you were an active militant of the working class, you were a committed worker proud of his profession. We can say that you were part of the working class which engaged in the fight for social justice and to improve working and living conditions in companies, to which you added the fight for a green planet.

From the height of your star, continue to watch over this Earth that we do not protect enough. Thank you for the teaching that you transmitted to us.

Your memory will remind us that we need to take care of men and women, especially the most vulnerable among them!

Your disappearance takes with you parts of labor history and part of the memory of ecology.

Hello Fraternal to you LEO who joined Jeannette the love of your life.

Maryvonne, Maryse, Thierry
And all the green activists of the Grenoble area
