Triathlon Bundesliga starts with a virtual bike race

SOUTH HESSE – (huss). The triathletes of DSW Darmstadt and TuS Griesheim had to wait a long time for the Bundesliga to kick off. It starts on Sunday – but in the form of an online bike race. With the help of watt measurement on the racing bike, the athletes are brought onto the virtual road via the Zwift internet platform. The competition over 40 kilometers, in which the second division and non-Bundesliga athletes can also start, forms the prelude to the redesigned racing calendar, in which up to five competitions in different formats are to be held. In addition to the virtual bike race, a decentralized Swim & Run is already scheduled for July 26th.

Anticipation at TuS Griesheim and DSW Darmstadt

Ascent and descent regulations are overridden, but Thomas Pignede, as sporting director of the triathlon team of the DSW Darmstadt, is pleased that a little life is coming into the racing calendar. “We also introduced some new racing formats in training. Of course, every athlete misses the comparison and the competition fever ”. Mika Noodt, Lars Anders, Jonas Uster, Jan Emmerich and Lasse Koch will compete for the DSW.

“We look forward to the opportunity to compete with the active people from all over Germany. That is a nice highlight in everyday training, ”explains Claudia Koch, Bundesliga manager for the ReaCard Triathlon Team TuS Griesheim, for which two men’s teams and a women’s team are starting. Long-distance specialist Paul Schuster and established Bundesliga athletes such as Fabian Reuter, Dries Matthys, Frederieke Willoughby and Elena Braun will represent Griesheimer Farben.
