Cyprus will host two major sports teams this Sunday. Both triathlon and bike lovers will sweat in the races that will start early in the morning on Sunday, October 6, 2024. The triathlon race will be organized by the Turkish Cypriot Triathlon Federation and the bike race will be organized held by the Turkish Cypriot Cycling Federation on the most important roads in the country.
Triathlon and Cycling Races will be held on two separate tracks
The triathlon race, which starts at 07:00 in the morning, will be held on the Iskele-Karpaz Main Road. The cycling stage of the race will cover the area between Ötüken Circle and Arkın İskele Hotel Circle. The swimming and running stages of the triathlon race will also be held in designated areas in Iskele. Meanwhile, the bicycle race organized by the Turkish Cypriot Cycling Federation will have a wider route. The race, which will be held on the route of İskele Long Beach Circle (Lokum Circle) – Geçitkale – Dörtyol Junction – Nicosia-Famagusta Main Road – EMU Junction – Famagusta State Hospital Road – Salamis Road, will last about 5 hours.
A traffic alert has been issued: Drivers should be careful
The routes where the two races take place will be closed to vehicle traffic during the races as part of security measures. Cyclists will be accompanied by motor police escorts, and police teams will be manning intersections and roundabouts along the route. The General Directorate of Police confirmed that drivers should drive slowly and carefully for their own safety and the safety of the athletes. Obeying traffic signs and signals is very important in this process. It was announced that the designated routes will be closed to traffic during the races, so other routes should be chosen.
