The film Triangle of sadness won the European Film Award (EFA) for best film. Director Ruben Östlund also won the best director award for this satire on a luxury cruise. The presentation of the “European Oscars” took place in the Icelandic capital Reykjavik.
Triangle of sadness won multiple awards. For example, the best actor award went to Zlatko Buric. He plays an entrepreneur who argues with the communist captain, among others, about capitalism during the cruise. The screenplay of this film was also awarded.
The Best Actress Award went to Vicky Krieps for her role as the Austrian Empress Elisabeth (Sissi) in Corset.
The Dutch family film Grunt was nominated for Best European Animated Feature. But the award was won by the French-Italian film Dogs or Italians are not allowed.
Grunt it’s about the girl Babs. She gets the Knor pig from her grandfather from America on his ninth birthday. Her parents aren’t so happy about it, but Babs can keep the animal on the condition that Knor takes puppy training. Previously won Grunt three Golden Calves and the film was chosen as a Dutch candidate for the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
