Her symptoms were so similar to COVID-19 infection that she began to worry about contracting the virus that originated in Wuhan, China. Choi worries that others may experience similar symptoms and is delaying vaccine administration.
According to Express, Wednesday (9/12), Choi enrolled in the study in August and received two shots of the experimental vaccine. However, after the second injection, she experienced headaches, nausea, chills and even reached a fever of nearly 40.5 Celsius, the highest in her life.
Choi said the symptoms disappeared after 24 hours and revealed that doctors need to warn patients about vaccine side effects so that the wrong message doesn’t go viral.
“I thought about why getting an experimental vaccine instead of a placebo is important to me as a health care worker, even though the stakes seem low when I think about what randomization feels like for patients,” Choi wrote.
Choi also experienced pain from where the injection was inserted. “My arm quickly became sore at the injection site, more than the first time. At the end of the day, I felt dizzy, cold, nauseous, and had a headache. I went to bed early and fell asleep immediately, “he explained.
“Around midnight, I woke up feeling worse, had a fever and chills, nausea, dizziness, and could barely lift my arm due to muscle pain at the injection site,” he continued.
