Freiburg (dpa / lsw) – The process of group rape of an 18-year-old in front of a disco in Freiburg, which was interrupted due to the coronavirus, is moved from the courtroom to a hall. The two trial days planned in May will not take place in the judicial building as usual, the regional court in Freiburg announced on Monday. In order to be able to maintain the safety distances applicable for protection against the corona virus, negotiations were held in a large concert and event hall of a Freiburg parish. The process will continue there on May 12 and May 13. It was interrupted in mid-March due to the Corona crisis and has been dormant since then.
The process started at the end of June last year. Eleven men between the ages of 18 and 30 are accused of rape or failure to provide assistance. Most of them are refugees. They are accused of raping the 18-year-old at night in Freiburg after visiting a disco in the bushes or not helping her in mid-October 2018. You deny this or remain silent on the allegations. So far there have been 33 trial days.
The process had been extended several times. The court now expects judgments at the end of July at the earliest (file number 6 KLs 181 Js 1138/19 AK 2/19 and 6 KLs 181 Js 35640/18 AK 3/19).
