Freiburg (AP) – In connection with the child abuse complex in Bergisch Gladbach, the Freiburg Regional Court sentenced a 41-year-old man to six years in prison. Preventive detention was ordered against him, as the court announced. In addition, the 41-year-old has to pay his victims a total of 19,000 euros in compensation. Wednesday’s judgment is not yet final.

The abuse complex was uncovered when investigators found vast amounts of child pornographic data in the house of a man from Bergisch Gladbach in 2019. They came across hundreds of other suspects through him, and several have already been convicted.

According to the conviction of the court, the man, now convicted in Freiburg, contacted a perpetrator from Bergisch Gladbach in 2019 via a Russian chat portal. He then held video conferences with him in which the men sexually abused their children: the 41-year-old his son born in 2017, the perpetrator from Bergisch Gladbach his two-year-old daughter. According to the court, the former also seriously sexually abused his daughter, who was born in 2011, in at least two cases from October 2014 and exchanged child pornographic files with others via a pedophile group chat from March 2016.
