Frankfurt / Main (dpa / lhe) – Because they are said to have beaten, kicked and seriously injured a young man with a knife, two brothers have to answer before the Frankfurt Regional Court. The trial of the brothers, aged 18 and 20, began on Thursday, and the prosecution charges them with attempted manslaughter and dangerous assault. It’s about a dispute in April of last year at the Konstablerwache in downtown Frankfurt. First the 27-year-old opponent was kicked and beaten, later the knife came into play, according to the indictment, which was read out at the start of the trial.

The seriously injured man had to stay in the hospital for several weeks. At the beginning of the trial, he described the event on the witness stand, while the two defendants initially made no statement. The reason for the dispute also remained unclear for the time being. The two defendants apologized to the victim. They had only let go of the injured person when passers-by intervened. The juvenile criminal chamber has scheduled another four days of trial until mid-September.
