Jakarta –
The Honorary Panel of Judges (MKH) trial was held by the Supreme Court (MA) and the Judicial Commission (KY) against Danu Arman. In his defense note, Danu pleaded not to be fired and to continue his career as a judge.
“And with all due respect, I honestly admit that I was guilty of having participated in using methamphetamine because of the temptation and invitation of Yudi Rozadinata’s brother to buy methamphetamine for me. So with all humility I ask the Honorable Council of Honorary Judges to accept an apology and an acknowledgment I am guilty,” said Danu during the MKH trial at the MA Building, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (18/7/2023).
“Your Honor, in my small heart I really feel sad and really regret it and promise not to repeat this act, and ask that I still be given the opportunity to have a career as a judge and improve myself. I still want to serve the homeland, the nation and the country. , as well as maintaining the career of a judge with full dedication and wisdom,” he continued.
Hearing this, MKH member Mukti Fajar Nur Dewata asked whether judge Danu could lead the trial normally when using drugs. Mukti replied no.
“I want to ask aja, You presided over the trial using drugs, is that normal?” asked Judge Mukti.
“Ready, no Your Highness,” replied Danu.
“About how many decisions did you make when you used the drug. Within those 10 months,” asked Mukti.
“I don’t remember the exact number,” replied Danu.
Danu could not confirm the number of cases, but he estimated that he handled dozens of decisions in the 10 months he used drugs.
Mukti also asked about the sanctions Danu had served. Danu admitted that he had been subject to one severe sanction.
“So, you have been subject to severe case sanctions. Returning to the initial question, what if, for example, you were a defendant or the parties to a dispute and knew that the one who was adjudicating was you, who had been subject to severe sanctions. Do you think the person being tried is sure or not? Because you asked to remain as a judge in your defense. The question is, if you go on trial, are you sure that you are not being tried several times? For example, you know I have a case. do you think you believe it or not?” asked Mukti.
“Ready, Your Highness,” answered Danu. He did not answer firmly.
Mukti also repeated his question regarding public trust in judges who had been subject to two severe sanctions. Danu also answered, the public should be able to believe it.
“In the memorandum of defense, you want to return to being a judge. The question is, because you have been subject to severe sanctions several times, do you think the defendant or the parties to the dispute you are trying can trust you again as a judge who has been involved in a case like this? ” asked Mukti.
“God willing, we can,” answered judge Danu.
Until now, the trial is still ongoing. The panel of judges is suspending the trial to make a decision against judge Danu.
