SCHIEDAM – The GGD Rotterdam-Rijnmond and the municipality of Schiedam will campaign next week to vaccinate more Schiedam residents against Corona. A temporary injection location will be opened in the district center in East from Tuesday; in West and Nieuwland, information is mainly provided to residents of Schiedam with questions about vaccination.
In Buurthuis Huis van de Wijk Oost, the doors are open on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for anyone who wants to be vaccinated or has questions about it. The GGD focuses in particular on people who have not yet been able to make a vaccination appointment due to circumstances such as language problems or difficulty using the internet or telephone. “Some people are afraid to go to a large sports hall or they have no transport,” said the municipality and the GGD in an announcement. “Even migrant workers, who stay here temporarily, have not all had the opportunity to be vaccinated.”
There will be a temporary information point in Schiedam-West and Nieuwland, where employees will answer questions from residents and help make vaccination appointments. “The information point will be in front of the door on Tuesday 20 July at De Erker district center and on Wednesday 21 and Thursday 22 July at Nieuwlandplein.” It’s open from nine to four.
Vaccination in East is possible on the three days mentioned between half past two in the afternoon and half past eight in the evening. “Anyone who wants to be vaccinated can come by without an appointment. Vaccination is done with vaccines from Janssen and Pfizer,” according to the organization. The vaccination is free. The organizers themselves speak of ‘a trial’.
GGD and Schiedam emphasize that this extra temporary vaccination location is only intended for people who have not yet had a shot, not for people who already have an appointment at one of the regular locations.
