The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) announced that the trial against former members of the Municipal Council of San Rafael Cedros, accused of acts of corruption, was restarted.
The defendants are accused of granting projects to introduce drinking water and improve local roads in several cantons, in exchange for receiving handouts.
Among those prosecuted in this case is the former mayor of said municipality, Dina Concepción Arévalo Chicas, who is a fugitive.
However, thanks to recent reforms, the former exedil may be prosecuted in absentia so that at the time of her capture she complies with the sentence that will be imposed.
