Today, Tuesday, the Criminal Chamber of the Economic Court postponed the trial of Mortada Mansour, President of Zamalek Club, in cases No. 1208 and 1228 of 2023, economic misdemeanours, on charges of insulting Mahmoud Al-Khatib, President of Al-Ahly Club, to the July 18th session.
The decision to postpone came; To view and pay the civil lawsuit fees.
Othman submitted two reports to the Public Prosecutor, on September 7 and 9, 2022, on his behalf and in his capacity as an agent for Captain Mahmoud Al-Khatib, accusing Mortada Mansour of committing insults and slander against them, spreading false news, and misusing social media to spread these crimes.
Othman explained in the two reports that the crime was committed in two interventions on August 22, 2022, the first on the “Zamalkawi” program broadcast on the Zamalek Club channel, and the second on the “Bulldozer” program on Al-Shams channel, during which Mortada uttered phrases against the two victims that are punishable by the Penal Code and the Regulation of Communications.
Mortada Mansour is currently being tried in two other cases on charges of insulting Al-Khatib. In one of them – No. 728 of 2023 Cairo Economic Misdemeanor – he was sentenced to a period of 3 months. As for the second case, it bears No. 1509 of 2022 economic misdemeanors, postponed to August 2nd.
It is noteworthy that the Court of Cassation ruled – on February 25, 2023 in another case – to uphold the two rulings issued against Mortada with one month’s imprisonment enforceable, and one year’s imprisonment with a suspended sentence, for accusing him of insulting and slandering Mahmoud Al-Khatib.
