Trial of Samire Lymani for Murder of Aurélie Vaquier at Hérault Assizes – Latest Updates

Resumption of the trial of Samire Lymani, at the Hérault assizes, this Monday, January 15. The ex-companion of Aurélie Vaquier, found in a concrete sarcophagus on April 7, 2021, at their home in Bédarieux, has been on trial for murder since Tuesday January 9, 2024.

Samire Lymani, described by experts as a man with a complex personality, continues to proclaim his innocence before the Hérault assizes.

It is this Monday, January 15, 2024 that he will be able to answer the court’s questions about his behavior and his reactions between the moment of Aurélie Vaquier’s disappearance and the discovery of the body.

Aurélie Vaquier and Samire Lymani, then both 38 years old, moved to Bédarieux, in Haut-Languedoc, in November 2020, five months after their meeting. Their relationship quickly deteriorated, with frequent arguments.

According to the accused, the young woman disappeared during his absence, while he was traveling in the Lyon region to pick up one of his sons and his nephew, on January 28, 2021.

When he returned to his marital home, ten days later, the accommodation was empty and he received a message from his partner indicating that she was going away for a few days to go out and write.

It will take him 26 days before alerting the police. Aurélie Vaquier, very present on social networks, has not given any sign of life for weeks.

His body was finally found by investigators on April 7, 2021, wrapped in a blue tarpaulin, buried under a concrete slab, topped by a small wooden platform, at the marital home. The victim was wearing indoor clothing, with slippers on her feet.

According to the forensic doctor, Aurélie Vaquier was not drugged or beaten. On the body, only one lesion, a trace of pressure, was observed at the throat. The young woman’s cell phone and her checkbook were found behind a plant in the home.

According to the defense, another person could have murdered Aurélie Vaquier, unknown DNA having been found on the tarpaulin which surrounded the young woman’s body.

Tried for murder of a spouse, Samire Lymani faces life imprisonment.
