Today, Tuesday, Cairo Economic Misdemeanors postponed the trial of Mortada Mansour, President of Zamalek Club, in cases No. 1208 and 1228 of 2023, economic misdemeanours, on charges of insulting Mahmoud Al-Khatib, President of Al-Ahly Club, to the next July 25 session, to take measures to respond to the court.
The lawyer in cassation, Muhammad Othman, the legal advisor to Al-Ahly Club, submitted two reports to the Public Prosecutor on September 7 and 9, 2022, on his behalf and in his capacity as an agent for Captain Mahmoud Al-Khatib, accusing Mortada Mansour of committing crimes of insult and slander against them, spreading false news, and misusing social media to spread these crimes. .
“Osman” explained in the two reports that the crime was committed in two interventions on August 22, 2022, the first on the “Zamalkawi” program broadcast on the Zamalek Club channel, and the second on the “Bulldozer” program on Al-Shams channel, and “Mortada” uttered phrases during them against the victims that are punishable by the Penal Code and the regulation Telecommunications.
Mortada Mansour is currently being tried in two other cases on charges of insulting Al-Khatib. In one of them – No. 728 of 2023 Cairo Economic Misdemeanor – he was sentenced to a period of 3 months. As for the second case, it bears No. 1509 of 2022 economic misdemeanors, postponed to August 2nd, in addition to other cases under investigation.
It is noteworthy that the Court of Cassation ruled – on February 25, 2023 in another case – to uphold the two rulings issued against Mortada with an enforceable one-month imprisonment.
