Trial day: Girls' and Boys' Day at the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences

Krefeld/Moenchengladbach. Trying before studying: On April 28, the “Girls’ and Boys’ Day” will take place at the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences – for the most part again in attendance. Pupils from the age of 14 are invited to take part in projects on career and study orientation from a total of eight departments. The goal is to bring gender-atypical jobs closer to young people. Girls can try their hand at business and technology, while boys are primarily introduced to social professions.

The departments of chemistry, electrical engineering and computer science, mechanical engineering and process engineering, economics and healthcare offer projects for young girls together with MakerSpace and the research institute NIERS. Impressive chemical and technical experiments, programming, building a mini game console and a podcast workshop are just a part of the day’s repertoire.

For boys, priority is given to projects in the fields of ecotrophology, textile and clothing technology and health care. Edible beverage packaging, 3D prints on textiles or practical insights into the role of managing a care facility provide the young males with various job profiles. A rally through the university library is also offered.

All in all, the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences offers courses for 49 pupils and 168 female students. The offers apply to young people from the 8th grade. If you have any questions, send an email to: [email protected]
