“He broke up a family, our life ended October 20, 2021“. It is in these words that Florence speaks of the one who fatally hit the car in which his 23-year-old daughter, Justine, was in Chorey-les-Beaune (Côte-d’Or) on October 20th.
This Wednesday, March 9, the trial of this 32-year-old man who was to be held at the Dijon court was finally postponed until June 1. A postponement justified by the absence of his lawyer, retained at the Assises de Dijon.
We were afraid of having to wait another year”
The person responsible for the accident did not appear in court either. The victim’s family has never seen him before and will have to wait another two and a half months for answers. A delay “quite satisfying“, says Justine’s mother who feared that the trial would be postponed until next year:”We are relieved.“
A worthy trial
The hearing date being fixed, the family of the victim now awaits justice for a trial “worthy” from Justine: “She was a beautiful person, may the trial live up to the person she was“. A trial that will also contribute to the reconstruction of this bereaved family.”Losing a child is extremely complicated, but the judgment will be a way of honoring him“, assures his mother.
The family is demanding that the perpetrator of the accident be punished : “There are rules to follow, we know he had consumed alcohol and was driving too fast, so I don’t see why this person would go through a judgment. Maybe jail time could make him think about what he did.”
Died for nothing
A few moments after the dismissal of the hearing this Wednesday, March 9, Florence confides that it does not happen not a second since last October 20 without her thinking of her daughter Justine : “She died for nothing and that is the most terrible thing. We are told of manslaughter, but for us this man is a murderer“.
