Tri-State Area Weather Forecast for Thursday and Weekend: Possible Rain and Snow, Cold Temperatures Ahead

NEW YORK — Residents of the tri-state area started Thursday with a mix of sun and clouds, with more cloudiness expected in the afternoon as a frontal system approaches from the west.

Fortunately, this system lacks moisture, so we don’t expect heavy rain, just less than an inch of snow in the northern interior counties and light rain in the metropolitan and coastal regions, according to our Weather Authority.

This scattered precipitation will taper off completely on Friday afternoon and temperatures will drop overnight on Friday with a sunny but very cold Saturday. Sunday will be the best day of the weekend with lots of sunshine and warmer temperatures that will continue to rise until early next week when we could end the month of February with spring-like temperatures.

Thursday

Maximum: 44 degrees. Partly to mostly cloudy with possible rain/mix this afternoon and evening. Lows in the 40s and 30s.

Friday

Maximum: 45 degrees. Cloudy with rain and even possible snow to the north.

Saturday

Maximum: 36 degrees. Mostly sunny with a breeze and very cold.

Domingo

Maximum: 42 degrees. Mainly sunny.

Monday

Maximum: 52 degrees. Partly sunny
