McCarthy calls for professionalism
Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy commented on the incident: “We have to be better in moments like this. I always talk about taking the high road. That is part of our responsibility in this business. But I am not ignorant or naive to the fact that this generation lives in the world of social media. You have to manage that. That’s part of being a professional athlete and representing this organization appropriately.”
Incident with a reporter
Shortly after the players returned from the field to the locker room, Diggs, still in his Cowboys uniform, stepped outside where the media was waiting to confront a reporter about an X-post. The post showed video of Diggs chasing down 49ers tight end George Kittle during a catch and eventually pushing him out of bounds.
The tweet appeared to question Diggs’ commitment. “This is what you take away from this?,” Diggs said in a video of the interaction. “From the whole play, this is what you take away from it? You don’t know football. You can’t do any of the things I do. Stay in your lane, buddy. Stop challenging me.”

Reactions from the team
Diggs did not speak to the media after the game. Defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer commented on the incident: “Obviously it’s important that we all handle this professionally and that’s not the type of thing we want to do. You probably shouldn’t read tweets right after the game, but I don’t know if that was it.”
