Unfavorable mortgages, expensive building materials and unavailable craftsmen have caused a sharp drop in the number of newly started construction of single-family houses, which is comparable only to the cooling of the market in 2013. Until interest rates are reduced, neither economists nor suppliers of building materials expect appreciable improvement.
The Volkswagen Group plant in Kassel, Germany is facing problems with supply chains and is therefore limiting the production of electric motors, the Automobilwoche website reported. The consequences will also be felt by the subsidiary car company of the concern – the domestic Škoda Auto, the Škoda press department confirmed for the e15.

Due to low demand for steel and the poor financial condition of its group, GFG is delaying the restart of the last operating blast furnace at its Liberty steelworks in Ostrava. Among the approximately 6,000 employees at the smelter, there is concern about the future of the company.
If not for the proximity of Prague, the sudden collapse of the Kladno Poldi smelters in the nineties could have caused real social unrest. Instead, up to ten thousand people moved out of Kladno in a short period of time, and the once lively industrial city began to decline rapidly. To the delight of the local town hall, however, this could change in the coming years, as investors plan to build thousands of apartments and industrial halls here.

Although each of them is influenced by other factors, the common denominator is the unfulfilled bets on the car business in the outlet where the market expected it the most. The huge hopes were mainly disappointed by the apparently insatiable Chinese market. Investors in the so-called battery metals therefore lost the incentive to rely on their further growth. The good news for electromobility supporters is that cheaper commodities are also reflected in battery prices, potentially improving the availability of zero-emission cars.
