TREND: GERB is first, PP and Stefan Yanev are eroding, BSP and Vazrazhdane are arguing for fourth and fifth place – 2024-03-02 10:03:23

/ world today news/ We present to your attention data from a “Trend” survey commissioned by the “24 Chasa” newspaper, dedicated to the attitudes of Bulgarians towards the main institutions and parties. The survey was carried out between July 5 and 12, 2022 through direct semi-standardized face-to-face tablet interview among 1005 people aged 18+.

“We continue the change” regains some of its support, but GERB remains the first political force. “There is such a people” and the formation around Stefan Yanev mark erosion. Pessimistic expectations for the economic situation in the country for the next year.

Kiril Petkov’s cabinet ends its mandate with 22% positive evaluation of his work and 70% who evaluate him negatively. In the last three months, we do not register dynamics in these values.

On the other hand, the evaluation of the Parliament’s work is in a continuing downward trend, with 14% positive evaluations and 77% negative evaluations this month.

The assessment of the president’s work also shows a downward trend, with 50% giving a positive assessment in May, 45% in June, and 43% in July. 41%, on the other hand, are those who give a negative assessment of the work of the head of state this month.

The dynamic political events of recent weeks have led to changes in the electoral attitudes of Bulgarians. “We continue the change” managed to recover some of its support, as this month 21.4% of voters stated that they would vote for the formation of Petkov and Vasilev. For comparison, in May their support was 17.5% of voters. Despite this recovery, “We continue the change” failed to regain the first position occupied by GERB. Borisov’s party maintains its result from the last months. In July, 23.6% of voters declared support for GERB. The situation with DPS (10.7%), BSP (9.8%), Vazrazhdane (9.6%) and Democratic Bulgaria (6.9%) seems static. We are registering an erosion of support for Stefan Yanev’s new formation, which this month gained 5.7% of voters. This is nearly 2% less than her starting position of 7.6% of voters in May. The big loser from the recent events seems to be “There is such a people”, which has seen a decline and remains at 3.8% of the voters, which threatens its chances of parliamentary representation in new elections. “Stand Up, Bulgaria” and VMRO remain with the support of 1.6% and 1.1% of the voters, respectively.

The expectations of the Bulgarians for the economic situation in the country for the next one year seem pessimistic. 45% expect a deterioration, and only 15% an improvement. The same goes for standard of living expectations. 37% are of the opinion that their standard will deteriorate in the next one year, and only 17% think it will improve. We reported similar high values for both indicators about two years ago – at the beginning of the Covid pandemic.
