The mayor of Trelew, Gerardo Merino, received today at the Municipal Palace the legendary Colombian cumbia band “Cuarteto Imperial”. The local district chief thanked the musicians for choosing the city to integrate into their artistic roadmap, to be carried out throughout the country. “His presentation will lift the spirit of the people of Trelew,” the municipal leader told him.
With the clear design of offering shows and various recreational activities for Trelew, which provide entertainment and interaction for the family, the Municipality will propose extensive programs during these months. And on this occasion, their visit to the city coincided with the Colombian musical group’s agenda, where they were received by Mayor Merino.
The president and the musicians spoke in the Historical Hall of the municipal building. During the meeting, Merino valued his presence in the city because from the management “we want to give joy and optimism” to the citizen. And “you transmit it from your interpretations.”
“We have to lift the spirits of the city; Beyond the problems at the national level, in Trelew there is discouragement, that is why the purpose is to raise the spirit of the Trelewense, which the city always had,” the mayor commented to the musical group.
He continued: “I am glad that these types of events are coming; and that generate movement. Shows of this type take publicity, magnitude, and entail an economic benefit. This has an impact on gastronomy, hotels, and other services. For us, cultural, sporting and tourist events will be important.”
“THE BEST FOR THIS MANAGEMENT”
The Imperial Quartet began its journey in 1960. They arrived in the country for the first time in 1964, which led to immediate recognition in the rest of Latin America. “Thanks to the public we are still in force, showing the quality of the music,” they commented to the mayor.
“People, after so many years, continue dancing to this music. I have a slogan that is ‘for ages 4 to 90’, that is, for the family. We want ugly words not to be transmitted to the public; our songs, channeled with the accompaniment of instruments, refer to romance, joy, and so on,” they said.
“We continue working throughout the country. We were also in Spain, the United States, we visited many places,” they noted.
After the talk with Merino, they thanked the municipal government “for opening the doors to us. It is a pleasure for us to visit Trelew and surrounding areas. We want to wish you the best. And from the bottom of my heart, let everything you plan to do for the city be fulfilled for this town that we love so much.”
