Trek’In Gazelles: 6 French women from New York and Geneva will walk for a good cause

Four live in New York and two in Geneva. Together, these six young women will take part next November in the Trek’In Gazelles, a 100% feminine and eco-responsible trek. 80 kilometers in the Sahara desert. In the footsteps of Lawrence d’Arabi, they will walk for the benefit of the Secours Populaire Français. A feminine, human, environmental adventure for which they are looking for sponsors and raising funds.

Le Trek’In Gazelles

Their names are Fanny, Victoria, Manon, Mélody, Sophie and Marine. They work in events, teaching, architecture, journalism, marketing or entrepreneurship. Together, they embark on this united, responsible and feminine adventure that is the Trek’In Gazelles. Between them six, they form two teams, the ” NewYork’Her ” and the ” Pow’Her “. Walking 20 kilometers a day for four days in the middle of the Sahara desert is for them a vector of solidarity towards the poorest. But not only !

« It’s a solidarity race, 100% feminine, 100% eco-responsible since every day, we will pick up waste from the desert. ” Explain Fanny Pradier. And to add ” I motivated five girlfriends, three from New York and two from Geneva, one of whom was still living in New York a few months ago ».

The Trek’in Gazelles — created by the organizers of the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles, the first edition of which took place more than 30 years ago — is the only trek in the world 100% female, 100% eco-responsible certified environmental standard, which combines competition, support for Secours Populaire Français and action to collect plastics in the desert. Indeed, the participants become “ CleanWalkers of the Desert “. During the first 2021 edition, more than 7m3 of waste was collected and incinerated. During the 2021 edition, 84 teams took the start of the Trek, i.e. 252 participants. This year, faced with the general enthusiasm, the organizers opened two sessions. 100 teams, or 300 participants are already registered for the first session, and currently 50 teams, or 150 participants are registered for the second session.

They will thus be some 600 women to take the start of this extraordinary trek. At the moment of Fanny, Victoria, Manon, Mélody, Sophie and Marine. A group of complementary friends, committed to feminist, environmental, animal and social causes. Expatriate women whose common values seal an unfailing friendship that carries them to the Sahara desert. For a cause: to help the most disadvantaged people in France.

A trek for the benefit of the Secours Populaire Français

« There are beacons all along the route, we raise funds for the Secours Populaire Français each time we recover one, it is the association that was chosen by the organizers explains Fanny Pradier. During the 2021 edition, 30,000 euros were donated to Secours Populaire Français.

It is part of the registration fees of nearly two thousand euros which each participant must pay which is thus donated to the French association. But the participants must also pay the price of the transport as well as the equipment necessary for the trek. ” We raise funds to participate in the trek because clearly, we do not have this money. It would be great to have the support of an airline for our plane tickets, as well as to have the support of a Decathlon type company for all the equipment. And of course, we are looking for French companies, but also foundations sensitive to the cause of women, ecology, solidarity that can help us “explains Fanny Pradier. They also rely on individuals and come from launch a crowdfunding campaign. Every dollar counts!

If the trek banishes electronics and is done with a compass – and incidentally with common sense – an Internet stand is planned on the bivouac where the participants will spend the nights, in order to ” to be able to stay in touch with our sponsors and post our adventure on social networks explains Fanny Pradier. This six-day adventure in the Moroccan desert will thus be published daily on the “NewYork’Her” and “Pow’Her” Instagram account. Six friends committed to a good cause.

« We are very determined to participate in this adventure concludes the dynamic Fanny Pradier. For feminist, eco-responsible, solidarity motivations, they will be there next November. Together, between sisters », they are enthusiastically embarking on this solidarity project for the benefit of the Secours Populaire Français.
