Trek Unveils Third Generation Émonda ALR – Its Lightest Alloy Road Bike Yet.

Trek has released an updated version of their popular Émonda ALR road bike, featuring a sleek new design with aero tubing, hidden cables and a move to a threaded bottom bracket. Aimed at riders seeking high performance and value, the new aluminium Émonda ALR promises to offer a smoother and more efficient ride than ever before. In this article, we will take a closer look at the features and benefits of this exciting new offering from Trek.

The third generation of Trek’s Émonda ALR has been announced as the brand’s highest-value road race bike, and its lightest alloy road bike. The new frameset includes features from Trek’s carbon road bikes, such as Kammtail tube profiles and integrated cables, and it uses the same racing geometry. The bike moves from a press-fit bottom bracket to a threaded T47 bottom bracket, and it will be available as a frameset and in two builds, the ALR 5 and ALR 6. The ALR 5 features a Shimano 105 mechanical groupset and costs £2,325/$2,300, while the ALR 6 uses Shimano’s latest 12-speed Shimano 105 R7150 Di2 electronic groupset and costs £3,150 (US pricing to be confirmed). Trek has also discontinued the Trek Émonda ALR 4 and rim brake-specific Émonda ALR frameset, making the range disc brake only. The new Émonda ALR is made from 300 Series Alpha Aluminium and features Trek’s Invisible Weld technology. The bike has Kammtail aero tube shaping and integrated cables and housing, and maximum tyre clearance is 28c. The Émonda ALR has the same H1.5 geometry as the carbon Émonda and Domane, and the ALR 6 features Bontrager’s new RCS Pro stem and Verse saddle.

Overall, the new aluminium Trek Émonda ALR offers a great balance of performance and affordability for riders. With its aerodynamic tubing and hidden cables, it has a sleek and modern look. The move to a threaded bottom bracket also brings added convenience and accessibility for maintenance. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned rider, the Émonda ALR is a bike that offers quality, versatility, and style. So, if you’re looking for a bike that can handle the demands of the road, the Émonda ALR is definitely worth considering. Get on yours today and hit the road!
