Düsseldorf: Veterinary clinic sued dog “Rufus”
Since mistress Heidi U. (name changed) could not pay for everything, she has now been sued by the clinic. The negotiations took place on Thursday, October 21. The first bill was over 2,000 euros. Heidi U .: “It was clear that we wanted to do the operation.”
After all, she had fetched Rufus, who was then a year old, out of the home. Especially for her disabled daughter. She was attached to the sensitive dog. When complications arose after the operation, the vet advised Heidi U. to leave the dog in the clinic for care.
That makes 250 euros per day. Then new operations were necessary. Heidi U .: “Because of Corona we couldn’t visit ‘Rufus’. The next time I saw him, I was shocked. The dog was completely cut open. “
Treatment of “Rufus”: Mistress had to borrow money from friends
The vet wanted to save the dog, Mum promised: “I’ll get it back!” Heidi U .: “He promised me not to charge the rest of the treatment.” Because by then she had already paid around 16,600 euros. “I borrowed money from friends.” Now there is still a remainder of around 8,000 euros. Heidi U. says: “If I had been able to estimate the cost of the treatment, I would have saved the dog from suffering.”
“Rufus” was heavily sedated in the clinic and even got opium. To this day, the large wound space has grown over. But because of the scar tissue, he can no longer move freely and hobbles. Follow-up treatments are also necessary now. The judge made it clear to mistress that she couldn’t avoid paying the doctor. So a settlement was made. Heidi U. will pay off the fee in monthly installments and the doctor will waive part of the bill.
