Treat Williams, known for his roles in Deep Rising in Everwooddied in a motorcycle accident on Monday. The 71-year-old actor was hit by a motorist when he wanted to turn on his motorcycle.
“Filmmakers loved him. He’s been the heart of Hollywood since the late 1970s,” Williams’ manager says People.
Williams made his film debut in 1975 with the thriller Deadly Hero. His big break came a few years later, when in 1979 he got one of the leading roles in the film adaptation of the musical Hair. That role earned him a nomination for a Golden Globe.
Later, Williams would get that nomination two more times, for Prince of the City and the 1980s adaptation of A Streetcar Named Desire. For the television movie The Late Shift got an Emmy nomination.
The actor could also be seen in the horror film alongside Famke Janssen Deep Rising. In the family drama The Deep End of the Ocean he co-starred with Michelle Pfeiffer. He also had the lead role in the television series Everwood.
The cast of Everwood recently suffered another death. John Beasley passed away on May 30 from liver disease.
