Treasury Commission agrees to redistribute $159.9 million – 2024-10-07 20:45:10

The Finance and Special Budget Commission ruled in favor of redirecting $159.9 million to different ministries; among them to National Defense with an allocation of $68.5 million.

The Executive presented a reform to the 2024 Budget Law to transfer $159,972,925 to five State institutions, these are: the Attorney General’s Office, $2 million; to National Defense, $68,596,435; to Education, $84,509,225, to the Ministry of Housing $419,040 and to the Ministry of Public Works $4,448,525.

The PGR will use it for institutional strengthening in order to provide legal assistance, psychosocial care, mediation and conciliation to the user population for the remainder of the year.

The National Defense fund will be used to operationally strengthen the different areas that support the fight against terrorist groups within the framework of the Territorial Control Plan.

In the area of ​​Education, we seek to implement strategies to continue the digital transformation of the educational system, teaching and learning to children at the basic level and avoiding school dropouts.

For the Housing area, the resources are destined to strengthen the Property Legalization Institute to ensure land ownership for families with limited economic resources.

The resources to the MOP will serve to guarantee institutional operation during the remainder of 2024 in order to continue with the execution of strategic road infrastructure projects, as explained by the Treasury representative.

As reported by Laura Arce, representative of the Ministry of Finance, the $159.9 million will be taken from the allocations available within the current budget of the Treasury branch of the general fund.
