Treasures in the Rubble: Antique Sink Found in Rotterdam Demolition Building

Interested parties were able to look around today in three buildings in Rotterdam that are being demolished because of an old aircraft bomb from the Second World War. The so-called dud, a bomb that did not go off, is most likely located under one of the three buildings on Claes de Vrieselaan.

Today people could look into the houses to bid on ornaments in the house, such as a classic sink or doors with stained glass windows. But it was also possible to bid on, for example, the roof tiles. The proceeds of the sale go to a neighborhood company that invests the money in neighborhood projects. Demolition work on the building will begin in September.

Nothing is as popular as the wall fountains in this house:

Last sniff in old Rotterdam houses that are being demolished because of a bomb

There are still a number of unexploded bombs from the Second World War in Rotterdam. Especially the bombs that are deep in the ground have not yet been removed. These can do little harm, unless piling or excavation work is done at the site of the bomb or in the immediate vicinity. On a special card shows the municipality where there are probably still bombs in the ground.
