KARLSTAD. Anton Bengtsson has already been sent home and there are question marks around both Lucas Wallmark and Max Friberg.
Then Sam Hallam considers calling up a forward for the meeting with Finland:
– We may have to make a few calls to some club leaders and see if they answer on a Saturday evening, says Tre Kronor’s union captain.
Tre Kronor also won the second match in the Beijer Hockey Games. It was 5-2 against Switzerland, since Tre Kronor had a 5-0 lead after half the match.
Switzerland won the third period 2–0.
– Good hockey game from us for about 35 minutes. Then it becomes more that we guard the lead and let down some intensity and full sharpness in our game. The last 20 minutes are just waiting for the final whistle, says Hallam.
Does it still bother you that you lose it a bit in the third period?
– Of course it does, a little. We want the guys to have fun on the ice and it’s hard to have fun when we do things at 70 percent, at the same time I have respect for the players, they also see what is written on the board.
Max Friberg did not come to play, the Frölunda forward was still at the hotel with a fever. Tomorrow’s game against Finland is unlikely.
– Extremely doubtful, we will absolutely not risk anything there. There was a bit of a fever before lunch and Max is at the hotel recovering, then it’s about getting him home to Gothenburg in the best way, says Hallam.
Meets Finland in match for tournament victory
Add that Anton Bengtsson was forced to go home even before the tournament began and that Lucas Wallmark stepped down in the second period. Reports on the latter are cautiously positive.
– It was close that he came out and played in the third period. We will make a decision early tomorrow morning, we are cautiously optimistic, says Hallam.
But if Wallmark doesn’t play, Tre Kronor is down to eleven forwards for tomorrow’s final against Finland and then it may be appropriate to flash a replacement from an SHL club.
Färjestad is close at hand:
– But it is quite close to a couple of other clubs. We might have to make a few calls to some club leaders and see if they answer on a Saturday night, says Hallam with a sly smile.
