Travis Scott gave his first in-depth interview after the “Astroworld” tragedy. In it he declares that he only found out about the disaster after the show – and rejects the guilt.
On November 5, 2021, the worst conceivable tragedy happened at the “Astroworld” festival in Houston, Texas: ten people were killed in a mass audience, including a nine-year-old boy. Travis Scott (30), rap star and organizer of the festival, was on stage during the incident from the main act and was giving a concert. In an almost 50-minute interview with Charlamagne tha God (43), he spoke for the first time in detail about the events.
Scott denies guilt
While it has often been speculated why Scott did not react earlier and interrupted the concert, Scott claims that he only found out about the tragic incidents AFTER the show.
“I didn’t know the exact details until minutes before the press conference [nach dem Konzert]. And even at this moment you ask yourself: ‘Wait a minute, what?’ ”, Says the rapper. “People pass out, something like that happens at concerts, but something like that …” he said – and broke off the sentence.

Calls for help not heard
Scott didn’t hear cries for help from the audience, and he said, “Every time you hear something like this, you want to stop the show and make sure the fans get the attention they need, every time.” Every time I’ve seen something like this, I’ve done it, ”said Scott. “I stopped a couple of times to make sure everyone was fine. And I’m really just assuming the energy of the fans as the collective call and answer … I just didn’t hear that. “

“We have to find out what happened there”
As an artist, at events like this one has to rely on other professionals to carry them out. He rejects the guilt: “I only control what I can do on stage and let the professionals control what they can do in the crowd. As an artist, you want to have the best shows and experiences, and you work with professionals to take care of these matters […] We have to find out what happened there and how it came about. ” “Its hard. It was never my intention to hurt anyone. I just wanted to give them a good time with my performance. “
